Dry Powder Disperser

Dry Powder Disperser

Looking for better powder particle size data?

Tired of bad powder dispersion analysis?

The Microtrac TURBOTRAC is a dry powder dispersion system which is used to prep your powders and solids for particle size analysis.   The Turbotrac is used with our Microtrac S3500 Particle Size Analyser.   The Turbotrac function is to prepare and deliver a dispersed uniform powder sample to the Microtrac analyzer measuring cell.   With this you can achieve consistent and repeatable dry powder and solid particle size analysis.

Turbotrac System Features:

Small Sample Volume

Your sample volume can be as small as 0.1 cc.   This is ideal for expensive ingredients or where your production is very small or in the lab and pilot plant stage.

Rapid Measurement

Particle measurement time is usually 10 seconds.   We also offer a shorter time cycle with the Microtrac “One Shot” add on for very small volumes.

Automatic Sampling

We offer Microtrac FLEX software which allows simple programming of measurement cycles.    You can place a sample in the tray, enter the identifier and hit RUN, data is then saved on the system or exported to your network.

Data Consistency

Data is comparable to fluid dispersions.

Data Repeatability

Consistent control will deliver excellent sample to sample repeatability.

Solid Dispersion Details

The flexibility of the compressed air and the flow condition settings allow you to adjusta and achieve a very uniform dispersion including material like highly agglomerated alumina.  Dispersion conditions can be adjusted for shear sensitive and for the fragile crystal particles.

Turbotrac:  How does it work

A compressed air stream is the carrier and the dispersing agent for the sample of dry solids.  The air is connected to an eductor block.  The Turbotrac eductor nozzle uses a number of TURBOJETS at multiple angles into the sample flow.   Mini turbulent air vortices are created in the sample flow which in turn disperses the powder.  The eductor eductor nozzle can be adjusted to increase or decrease the sample dispersion.   After analysis, the material is collected by a vacuum system.
