Ultrasonic and Acoustic Mixing is a new approach to solving mixing and dispersion problems that is distinct from either conventional impeller agitation, or ultrasonic mixing. Low-frequency, high-intensity acoustic energy is used to create a uniform shear field throughout an entire mixing vessel.
The result is rapid fluidization and dispersion of material. A consistent mixture is achieved very quickly. Production cycle times can be reduced, or process steps can be eliminated, while at the same time improving quality and consistency.
This newly patented technology uses a proprietary method that is designed to operate on at resonance. A closely controlled electromechanical oscillator is used to excite mix material. The entire system oscillates in resonance, allowing highly efficient energy transfer and rapid mixing of the mix materials.

Laboratory Mixing
The LabRAM mixer is an indispensible mixer for the laboratory. ResonantAcoustic® Mixing (RAM) is a new technology that is revolutionizing mixing. The effectiveness and versatility of RAM technology means that the LabRAM can often replace several conventional mixers.
In the laboratory RAM technology has been found to be a more efficient alternative to centrifigual mixers, impeller mixers, high-speed mixers, low-shear mixers, ribbon blenders, and planetary mixers.
In addition to complete and consistent mixing the LabRAM offers:
Versatility:
RAM thoroughly mixes all types of materials including gases, liquids, solids, powders and pellets. RAM can mix extremely high viscosity materials, beyond 100 million cP. Click here for application examples.
RAM mixing does not use impellers. It is a non-invasive mixing process which can be performed in a variety of mixing vessels including sample vials, disposable containers, glass containers, tubes and custom built metal vessels. Custom vessel holders can be designed to hold several small containers.
For all around usefulness and general purpose flexibility, the LabRAM exceeds all other mixers.
Quick turn around:
RAM technology rapidly fluidizes the entire vessel resulting in much faster mix times than impeller mixing. Mixing times are dramatically reduced with RAM technology.
The down-time between mixes with the LabRAM is very short since there are no impellers to clean, or mixing vessel to clean. In seconds, the mixing vessel can be removed and a new one installed.
Safe mixing of sensitive and hazardous materials:
The LabRAM Vacuum model offers the option of mixing under vacuum which is useful when mixing moisture or oxygen sensitive materials.
Mixing in sealed vessels which never have to be cleaned is ideal for sterile or hazardous materials.
Thermally sensitive materials can be mixed quickly and thoroughly without risking unwanted property changes. RAM generates a fluidized system with small vortices that homogenize materials with less heat generation than impeller systems, where mixing is localized in high shear areas around the impeller.
